Our Governing Body includes three lay members who help to decide which health services to commission for local people. You can find out more about them here.
Hastings and Rother CCG meet in public every two months to discuss local health issues and to make decisions about local healthcare services. Our Governing Body meetings also involve the local CCG for Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford as we share a management team.

Every CCG Governing Body has a Quality and Governance Committee. These Committees meet together to receive reports on the CCGs' governance arrangements (policies, decision making processes and procedures that the CCG uses) and the quality of health care services that we commission on behalf of local people.
We have two patient representatives who sit on these Committees to provide a 'critical friend' challenge and bring a patient perspective to the work discussed.
Our patient representatives:
- Help to ensure that the public voice is heard and considered;
- Bring specific knowledge and experience, as a member of the local community;
- Champion and uphold the values of the CCGs and be an appropriate role model;
- Are committed to continuously improving health outcomes, tackling health inequalities and securing best use of public money;
- Offer an unbiased view on possible conflicts of interest;
- Contribute to ensuring that the organisation values diversity and promotes equality;
- Consider social care principles and promote health and social care integration where it is in the best interest of our population;
- Consider information and evidence regarding the quality of services from a patient/public perspective.

Our engagement team regularly meet patient representatives to support them in their role and additional training is available to those participating in our pathway redesign work-streams. We recognise that the people we serve are diverse, with a range of needs and from a range of backgrounds and we want to reflect this in our engagement approach. We offer translation and interpretation services, as required, at our main events alongside our commitment to supporting people to engage and providing information in alternative formats.
We use this form at all of our events and engagement activities to monitor diversity of experiences and voices, ensuring we tailor our approach to cater to all backgrounds.
